A Place to Bury Strangers

Brooklyn’s A Place to Bury Strangers are playing the cozy Black Cat backstage on Wednesday night, for the preposterously low price of $7. You can check them out at the link above or download a mini-album gratis.

If you’re planning on hitting the AFF Happy Hour with economist and terrifyingly-erudite culture maven Tyler Cowen (of Marginal Revolution fame) earlier the same evening, this event makes an especially nice complement. Should you find yourself introduced to the guest of honor, you can casually let drop that you’re heading to the Place to Bury Strangers show next. He will cock his head slightly and fix you like a pinned butterfly with his cool, unblinking gaze: “The experimental surf-rock shoegazer group?” You nonchalantly reply: “The very same.” Daggers of envy fly at you from all corners as he almost imperceptibly nods his approval.
