In response to last week’s gay-incest anti-pot ad, a friend reminds me of this classic PSA, which proves that drug warriors are becoming more savvy, overtly gearing their “Just Say No” messages to people who are already stoned out of their fucking gourds:

    That’s funny because I was stoned out of my fucking gourd when I saw this PSA. I remember thinking it was both empirically doubtful and rhetorically weird that the value of not smoking pot is supposed to be that you’ll be more inclined to get in the spaceship of some alien who randomly shows up while you’re sitting on a park bench. I can’t say my sober impression is much different.

    I like these new anti-drug ads personally. Not the incest ones mind you, but some of them are quite apt. There *are* people who use drugs for the wrong reasons, escape, etc. As long as they’re using my tax money they might as well entertain me.
