Second Thoughts

November 15th, 2006 · 4 Comments

After last week’s elections, I wrote a tongue-in-cheek post at Hit and Run suggesting there was something heartwarming about a picture of Rick Santorum’s young daughter bawling at the result—the headline, as South Park fans will recognize, cribbed from Eric Cartman’s sadisitic gloat in the episode “Scott Tenorman Must Die” (video). This not only prompted a preposterously long comments thread, but also a smattering of irate emails and vertiable howls of rage from various conservative blogs.

On reflection, this was a serious error in judgement. If I’d realized that so many people would get so bent out of shape over that one photo, I would not have made that post. I’d have photoshopped her into lesbian S&M porn instead.

I got scolded by some friends for asking whether she was holding a doll or a dead baby.

It’s not too late to correct your mistake!

What I think is weird is how his daughter dresses like she’s Amish. They are from Pennsylvania, I suppose.

What, so we have to feel sorry for someone who doesn’t get to enjoy as spoiled a life as she did before?
