No, no, I haven’t abandoned blogging forever. My laptop is hosed, and (having managed to get it running off a bootable external HD) I’m devoting way too much energy to learning my way around the OSX Unix shell as I try to figure out how much of my data I can recover. (Doubly a waste of time as I expect I’ll just have to break down and get DiskWarrior or some such util to salvage it for me.) Anyway, I’ve got an old desktop I’m using in the interim, so I’ll probably be able to post a bit, but it’s noxiously slow.

Use a working computer and download knoppix, then burn it to CD and boot your laptop directly from the CD. You should be able to retrieve all your data regardless of how badly hosed your system is:

Free and easy, the way OS’s should be:-)

    Why did you leave Reason?

Julian has left Reason? Aaaargh! First Matt Welch, now him! Why must my favorite writers always leave that magazine?
