Hit and Run commenter Warren gets off the best one-line reply to the silly boycotts of stores that dare to greet customers with “Happy Hollidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”:

Remember when the faithful use to complain that Xmas was too commercial? Now they complain that commerce is insufficiently monotheist.

    Any store which greets its customers with “Happy Hollidays” should indeed be boycotted, for spreading illiteracy if nothing else.

    As one announcer on WNYC said (wish I remember who it was), something to the effect that, when you see the number of plastic santas, reindeer or candy canes out on peoples front lawns, it boggles the mind that the same people expect to find spirituality when they go to Target or Wall Mart. Maybe they should look for it in their own homes!
