High School Wisdom

November 14th, 2005 · 3 Comments

There are exactly two useful things teachers said in high school that have stuck in my head ever since. For different reasons, they’ve been bouncing around my head a bit lately, so here they are in case anyone else finds them useful:

I spent a lot of time when I was younger trying to be interesting. Eventually, I realized you’re better off trying to be interested.

People think the opposite of love is hate. It isn’t: The opposite of love is fear.

I think yoda said that think about love and fear. Not sure. I fell asleep during the movie.

Are you sure the one about love and fear didn’t come from watching Donnie Darko too many times?

I think the people who wrote comments are inconsiderate of people’s feelings. If she did get off a movie or something like that, she believes it and you should tolerate that.
