He was pilloried, but my thought at the time was, "But he's right." I'm not a doctor, but I am a paramedic with a part-time job that requires me to know something about very basic epidemiology. While a CDC person or real epidemiologist could tell you a lot more about the subject, the rule is very simple: airborne transmissible pathogens spread very, very effectively in enclosed areas with recirculated air.
