Quite possibly. I'm much friendlier than many of my fellow travelers to this sort of default-setting, and I'm contemplating co-authoring an essay with a friend on libertarian non-ideal theory, which will probably at least dip into the issue.

Your post raises the more abstract issue of legislative settoing of default rukes. I've noticed that many libertarians don't understand that they can't just employ their usual arguments to rules parties can contract out of. You obviously do. Any prospect of an essay on sticky defaults and the sophisticated progressives who love them?

Hey Sameer-
I expect I'll occasionally cross-link C@L stuff, especially if they're longer essays as opposed to quick posts, but I doubt I'll do it for all of them. So it wouldn't hurt to subscribe there. Though I don't plan to wholly abandon this blog; plenty of stuff I write wouldn't really be appropriate there.

Are you going to keep linking to your C@L posts here? Or do we need to subscribe to C@L if we want to keep reading you?

C@L has already been made more interesting by your presence.

On a tangentially related note, how did philosophy acquire such a popular reputation as being an impractical, head-in-the-sky discipline? I'd say it's by far the most useful and intellectually rigorous major among the humanities. (To provide a point of reference, I majored in physics.) Philosophy majors are hugely overrepresented among the political commentators who are worth reading.
