After all, gay people aren't shanghaiing children out of healthy families, they're adopting them from the state. So the question to ask is emphatically <i>not</i> whether having an adoptive gay parent is better than having two heterosexual parents; that ship has sailed. The question is whether having an adoptive gay parent is better than remaining a ward of the state. McCain is saying he's opposed to band-aids because it's better not to be cut.
