I'm compulsive. Got fired for twirling once. And because I've never had an opportunity to brag about this elsewhere, and probably will never have an opportunity as good again, my top three twirling accomplishments: 3) a broom (over my head, of course), 2) a cereal box (empty) and 1) a 3x5 index card (unfolded).

Ah, the pen twirl! I don't do it so much any more, but I used to tend to walk a fresh cigarette up and down my fingers for a while before I lit it.

And aside from the spreading, the real giveaway of the ex policy debater is, of course, The Chop.

Any time you're in a long meeting with a lot of youngish lawyers, about a third of them will twirl their pens at some point. My experience suggests that about 90% of them were high school debaters.
