Our highest national aspiration should be “America: Hey, it’s better than Somalia.”

Seems like a reasonable point to me. Lots of uninformed people seem to think racial conflict is unique to North America. Said people don’t know much about Africa.

Yeah, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who (one presumes voluntarily) accept a job and then complain about it due to their religious beliefs.

If you’re looking to pick on McCarthy, he made a far more moronic comment a few days ago:

Radical Islam was not merely *enabled* by the Supreme Court Gitmo decision, as you would expect the likes of McCarthy to argue, radical Islam actually *defeated* the American People!

You have to be pissing-your-pants afraid of terrorism to even conjure up such nonsense, regardless of the merits of the decision.

Shorter Andy McCarthy: I’m a fucking pussy.

Pretty much every failure in Iraq has been dismissed with “Saddam was worse.” I’m not convinced that the excuse is even true anymore (bloody chaos is arguably worse than somewhat less bloody tyranny, because there’s no real way to carve out a predictable routine and space for improving your own life), but it was certainly pathetic even when it might have been true.
