It's not a count-down, but a count-up, so there's no scary limit that we're getting closer to. Worse still is that every centisecond we go with "defenses down" without actually having terrible consequences just demonstrates how those "defenses" weren't necessary. The higher the numbers go, the better, and the weaker their arguments become. This is a stupid idea even from a fear-mongering perspective. I send them all back stuffed with scrap paper for extra weight, making sure that my address is easily found when they open the envelope. They still send me junk mail.
