He's operating from the fear that people will perceive something unelectably radical in Paul's views of military force. I think it is clear that Paul's opposition to the war is coming from a different place than Obama's, and when he speaks about it he sounds pretty far off of the mainstream view of things. It's kinda the same way you might have felt when Harry Browne used to talk about dismantling the IRS in one year. I understand the instinct.
