		<description>I think the question a lot of people are answering is actually the pragmatic one of:  How can universities get the best use of their female faculty?  It&#039;s pretty clear that they&#039;re doing a piss-poor job of it now, with the tenure track leaking like a sieve, and they&#039;re not making much progress either.  That they are convinced that they should be answering questions about fundamental rights, gender roles, and the structure of society is probably part of the problem.

Of course, it&#039;s not entirely clear that taking on more tenured professors&#039; is in universities&#039; interests -- it may simply be that where females are now is where males are headed rather than vice versa.
