Now, all the smart people know that changing the fundamental definition of marriage won't cause any social problems. 215 years ago, Burke pointed out that prudence is a good thing in public policy. We don't fully know how the world works, so we shouldn't act like we do. Especially when political correctness overwhelms frank discussion of the possible consequences of gay marriage. Someone needs to make sure Joe Sixpack wears a clean shirt and goes to work everyday and he's obviously incompetent to do that, so marry him off to a women who's entire purpose in life is to spoil his fun.
